Queensland Justices Association (QJA) is the peak industry body that represents Justices of the Peace and Commissioners for Declarations throughout Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1918, the QJA has a long history of providing professional support to its members. It is the largest organisation supporting Honorary Justices in Australia, a major representative body in its field and the Queensland representative on the Australian Council of Justices Association. With a membership base of over 6,000 the QJA provides training, information and resources to its members through a network of over 40 Branch and Contact Groups.
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Delegate we are licenced to deliver the accredited course required for appointment as a Justice of the Peace (Qualified) or Commissioner for Declarations. We continue to be the leading provider of pre-appointment training for Justices of the Peace and Commissioners for Declarations in locations throughout Queensland. We deliver training in a variety of locations and formats to suit the diverse, distributed nature of our State. As a not-for-profit, surplus funds from the Training program are invested back into Branches and Membership activities which support Branch Members and the local community.
The QJA operates as a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee operating under the laws set down by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and is governed by a board of directors, consisting of a President, a Vice President and seven Directors.
We support a growing number of branches throughout Queensland which facilitate activities, including regular meetings, organising signing facilities and professional development workshops, as of October 2016 we had 40 active branches.
We provide our Members with regular monthly electronic newsletters, priority bulletins, and the quarterly QJA Journal, which are produced by our experienced team of practicing Justices of the Peace who are also available 24 hours, 7 days, to support your Members when they most need help.
The State Office of the QJA is open from 8.30am to 4.30 pm Monday to Thursday, and 7.30am to 3.30 pm on Friday. Outside of these hours, an answering service is provided for your convenience or you can call one of the directors, whose contact numbers appear in the QJA Journal.
Our Vision is to: "be the pre-eminent organisation for Queensland honorary justices."
and we are: "Committed to being the centre of excellence for Queensland Honorary Justices through a combination of leadership, professional development, and advocacy."
