Hello QJA Brisbane South Branch Members
Our Branch Committee met last week and decided in view of the COVID-19 situation it would be in the best interest of all to forego our April meeting. While our numbers are not large and our venue quite spacious, it will still be challenging for members to maintain the recommended distance of at least 1.5 metres. As a fun fact – did you know that means a space the size of a king sized mattress for each person in the room? We will have to keep reviewing circumstances for future meetings and will keep you posted. Our planned guest speaker from Rosies has indicated she will be happy to come along when we are able to resume meetings.
The Richlands SES Community Day on 16th May has also been postponed.
Of further note, I sadly advise that I am having to stand down in my role as Secretary as my husband’s work are transferring him to Canberra. I am disappointed that our April meeting won’t be going ahead as I would have liked the opportunity to say goodbye to those regulars at our meetings whom I will surely miss.
As a consequence future Branch meetings and events will be held at Broadwater Road Uniting Church. We would be happy to alternate at a different venue so please send an email to email@example.com if you know of anywhere suitable.
Our committee have approached Myrna Stevens who is a regular at our meetings and local signing centres and she has very kindly agreed to temporarily fill the role of Branch Secretary until it may be properly filled at our August AGM. Myrna will be taking over this email address from approximately mid April. A huge thanks to Myrna for taking this on.
It is our hope that with the measures currently being taken, the risk of coronavirus will be reduced for all so that life can return to some degree of normal more quickly and the health of all be protected as much as possible. We encourage you all to stay safe and well and our Branch will work to keep you informed of plans as events unfold.
