All JPs and C/Decs (non QJA members welcome) are invited to attend this year’s workshop. We have arranged an informative afternoon with guest speakers and practical training. This is also a great opportunity to meet and greet with fellow JPs and C/Decs.
Guest Speaker –Dr Anne McCawley, Caxton Legal Centre
Dr Anne Louise McCawley is the Community Engagement and Education Leader within the Family and Domestic Violence and Elder Law practice, Caxton Legal Centre. She worked for over 15 years in Queensland Health as a clinical social worker and then Statewide Clinical Education Program Manager for Social Work and Welfare. For Caxton Legal Centre, she was one of the project leads on the Human Rights in Practice: Capacity, Decisions and Options Project and has degrees in government and public policy, law and social work.
Guest Speaker –Bob Walker, Office of Fair Trading
Bob Walker is a Community Engagement Officer and Community Stakeholder in the Education Engagement Team at the Office of Fair Trading. Bob’s presentation about the latest scams in the community, how to avoid them and what to do if have been scammed, is always interesting and entertaining.
Guest Speaker - Brendan Balough, Justice of the Peace Branch
Brendan Balogh from the Justice of the Peace Branch will be familiar to most of you as the voice behind the regular webinars from the JP Branch of the Department of Justice. Brendan also volunteers at the Brookside signing site on some Thursday nights.
